How do I apply for my provisional driving licence?

There are two main ways that you can apply for your provisional licence, either online or by post.

To apply for your provisional licence online click here and follow the instructions. To apply for your licence by post you will need to complete the D1 application form which you can pick up from a Post Office or request one from the online service.

How do I book my driving theory test?

Firstly, have a chat with your driving instructor. He or she will give you some advice on whether they feel you are ready and what to expect.

Once ready, the easiest way to book your theory test is online.

Local theory test centres to Portsmouth include Venture Tower in Fratton, Persimmon House in Fareham, Lugley Street on the Isle of Wight and Capital House in Southampton. Other theory test centres are available and you can enter your postcode here to find your nearest theory test centre. Note that these are not the same locations as the practical driving test centres.

How do I book my practical driving test? 

It is definitely worth talking with your driving instructor before booking your practical driving test to ensure that you are ready. While no one is guaranteed to pass first time you want to make sure that you have covered all the maneuvers and skills that may come up in the driving test so you are prepared.
