Before your driving lessons

Before any type of driving lesson there are a few things you can do to ensure you are fully prepared.

Before you learn to drive you must have the correct driving license

Learner drivers need to ensure they have their provisional driving licence before booking a driving lesson. To apply for your provisional licence online click here and follow the instructions. To apply for your licence by post you will need to complete the D1 application form which you can pick up from a Post Office or request one from the online service. You can apply for your provisional licence up to 3 months before your 17thbirthday. The cost of your first provisional licence is £34.

For advanced lessons such as motorway lessons and Pass Plus you will need to have a full driving licence.

Ensure you are wearing comfortable clothing & footwear

We want you to be comfortable for your driving lesson, so wearing practical clothing and footwear is essential. Try to avoid flip-flops or heels, both of which can get caught under the foot mat or pedals.
